Remembering Keith J Hoard

Keith Howard died unexpectedly in his home on February 8, 2015. He is predeceased by his parents, Keith and Beryl Howard; and identical twin brother, Graham Howard. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Cross; children, Harrison and Holly Howard; step-son, Michael Labbe; brothers, Max (Kim) Howard and Jeff (Anne) Howard; sister, Janelle (Bill) Ewing; three nephews and one niece.

Born in Australia, Keith Howard spent his career teaching art and print making. He taught and led programs in Queensland College of Art in Brisbane, Lakehead University Ontario, and Grande Prarie Regional College in Alberta. Since 1999 Keith served as head of the Contemporary Non-Toxic Printmaking Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology, which was rated in the top Contemporary Printmaking Programs in America in 2013.  

For the past 25 years Keith has been at the forefront of Contemporary Non-Toxic Printmaking research and teaching.  He has written three groundbreaking books on Non-Toxic Contemporary Printmaking that sold in over 50 countries and delivered well over 100 hands-on Non-Toxic Intaglio courses around the world. 

Keith was a nurturing and challenging professor who took an active part in each student’s development. He was always thinking in innovative ways, developing new methods, and finding ways to improve work in printmaking. His Australian accent and wry wit, he commonly pushed his students and

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 2 PM at All Seasons Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford.  Private interment. The family requests no flowers, donations in his memory may be made to In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to:
